How does the GPL work?
The GPL publishes current league tables from all the qualifying Multi-Table Tournaments that are hosted on the Everleaf Poker Network. There are a number of different poker rooms that make up the Everleaf network, including Rockem Poker and Poker4ever. No matter which one you choose to play on, you will use the same great software and play against the same players in exactly the same games.
If you play on the Everleaf network already your results will still be recorded in the league, even if you have not joined through the GPL, and you can still have bragging rights when you realise you are 200 places above your foes. But by joining you can also win cash and other valuable prizes!
What is the cost to join?
Nothing. GPL is free to join and use - there are never any fees to pay. In addition, all the rooms that the GPL features are free to join and open an account with.
How do I know when I am a member?
Once you have joined your new site and we have received your sign-up confirmation form, The Great Poker League will email you to confirm your membership. If you do not receive this email within 72 hours of joining please contact us so that we can investigate.
Before you click through to your preferred site, please make sure you have not downloaded their software in the past. If you have, please remove it from your system and delete all cookies before you click through. This way your new poker room will recognise us as referring you, and we can subsequently confirm your membership with us.
How are the league points calculated?
The top 19 players in qualifying tournaments will earn points. To calculate how many points you earn from each tournament, we multiply together the 3 factors below.
First is the position that you finished:
| Position | Points |
| 1st | 20 |
| 2nd | 15 |
| 3rd | 12 |
| 4th | 10 |
| 5th | 8 |
| 6th | 6 |
| 7th | 5 |
| 8th | 4 |
| 9th | 3 |
| 10th | 2 |
| 11-19 | 1 |
Then we multiply by the number of participants (remember the multiple for 0-30 is 0 as we do not award any points in games which have 30 runners or less):
| Participants | Multiplier |
| 0-30 | 0 |
| 31-99 | 1 |
| 100-199 | 2 |
| 200-299 | 3 |
| 300-399 | 4 |
| 400+ | 5 |
Finally we multiply by the cost of the entrance fee:
| Fee | Multiplier |
| 1-9 | 1 |
| 10-29 | 2 |
| 30-99 | 3 |
| 100-249 | 4 |
| 250+ | 5 |
Example 1
You enter the 30 tournament at 20:00. If there are 316 runners and you come 2nd you would earn 180 points. Here's how:
You came 2nd. You earn 15 points.
There were 316 runners so we multiply by 4. 15 x 4 is 60
The buy in was 30 so we multiply by 3. 60 x 3 is 180
Example 2
You come 14th in the 5 game at 01:00. There were 78 runners. Here you would earn just 1 point:
You came 14th. You earn 1 point
There were 78 runners so we multiply by 1. 1 x 1 is 1
The buy in was 5 so we multiply by 1. 1 x 1 is 1
Our points system is designed to ensure that we reward high achievers as well as big spenders.
What can I win?
All the rooms we feature offer their own unique and exciting prize structure, however all pay cash for the top positions.
When are the first and last games of the month/year?
The first qualifying game each month will be the first game on or after 00:00 on the 1st of the month. The annual league will run from the first game on or after 00:00 on the 1st January until 23:59 on the 31st December following. The last game of the month/year could in theory start at 23:59 on the last day of the month/year, but in practice is likely to begin at 23:30 or 23:45.
All times are GMT.
What are the qualifying tournaments?
Any guaranteed prize pool game with a buyin of 1 or more and 30 or more runners.
How do I find out where I am in the league?
Click on your name in the league table, or type your username into the 'Search by Nickname' box at the top of the screen to find out your current placings in both leagues and your competition history.
I won the league but have not been paid any money - why?
The rooms we work with have committed to pay your prize money by the 10th of the following month.
If you made the money and have not received your prize, you should first email your poker room directly.
What happens if there is a tie?
When more than 1 player finishes the month on the same number of points, the prize money for the tied places is added together and divided by the number of players who tied.
Does it matter which site I sign up with?
If you already have an account with one of our partners, then you need to join one of our partners you do not have an account with. There are several to choose from, so there should be an option for everybody.
Click here to review our partner sites and their signup criteria and special offers.
My points have not been added to the league, what do I do?
First check that it was not one of the excluded games, like a satellite or a heads up game, or that there were 30 runners or less, then contact us with full details. Mistakes can happen. But as long as you notify us before the end of the month, we will always rectify them.
In exceptional cases we may be unable to recover the tournament result. Is this is the case a particular game may have to be excluded from the league.
If you query a league result it would be helpful for you to send a screenshot of the final tournament lobby for the game in question.
I have tried to register but the poker room I chose will not accept my nickname!
Each nickname used on the Everleaf network must be unique. So if you already have an account with a different site on the network then the nickname you used with them will already be registered. In this case you will need to signup with a different nickname.
Can I transfer points I earned with my old nickname?
This is at the discretion of the Poker Room you join. When this is allowed the annual prize is normally awarded on a pro-rata basis for each complete month of the year to run and monthly prizes are not payable in the month of the transfer. Please check with your poker room for their policy on transfers.
Are you looking to sponsor any players?
Some of the rooms we work with may have sponsorship opportunities in 2009.
Why sign up via the GPL?
The GPL have negotiated preferable terms with our selected Poker Rooms.
